Car insurance in Nigeria, the simple way
Third-party or comprehensive, quoted from licensed underwriters and paid in the app. Log your vehicle and get covered in minutes.
Motor cover in Nigeria comes in two levels. Knowing which you need is the difference between the legal minimum and being able to replace your car.
Third-party vs comprehensive
- Third-party is the legal minimum. It pays for damage or injury you cause to others, at a regulated flat premium by vehicle class. It does nothing for your own vehicle.
- Comprehensive covers third-party liability plus your own car: accident damage, fire and theft of the vehicle itself. Premium is a percentage of the car's value.
What decides your premium
For comprehensive cover, the main lever is the value you insure the car for. Insure it for its real replacement value: too low and a claim is scaled down by the average clause; too high and you overpay. Cova prices it from the live rates of licensed underwriters, so you see the accurate figure, not a guess.
Looking for the cheapest car insurance?
The cheapest honest option is regulated third-party cover. But "cheapest" and "enough" are different questions: if your car being stolen or written off would hurt, comprehensive is the cover that actually replaces it. We show you both, clearly priced, so you choose with your eyes open.
Getting covered
- Log your vehicle: make, model, year and value.
- Add the details underwriters need, plate, chassis and engine number.
- Choose third-party or comprehensive, pay in the app, and download your certificate.
Claims
File from anywhere. For theft you will need a police report; for an accident, photos and the details. Cova guides you and verified claims are settled to your wallet.
